Glenlola Collegiate a class act with Keystone

A Keystone Lintels product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Feb 26, 2008

Prestigious girls grammar school in Bangor, NI, has used steel lintels from Keystone Lintels to provide a dramatic entry and focal point for the School's exterior.

With Felix O'Hare Contracts deciding on a structural solution from Keystone Lintels, Glenlola Collegiate School's finished structure is top of the class.

The School covers some 12,000m over three levels, containing 100 classrooms and ancillary accommodation for up to 1100 pupils.

An educational building of this magnitude and reputation needs an aesthetic dimension to match; with the elegant, eye-catching entry arch serving as a talking point and defining feature of the school's exterior, Glenlola has an architectural excellence to match its academic distinction.

"The cantilevered nature of the entry arch is very dramatic," Site Agent Terry McSherry comments, "but its extreme angular nature made a reinforced Steel Lintel essential".

"The structural steel was not strong enough to support an arch of this profile, so the architect specified a reinforced steel lintel".

"Our good relationship with Keystone Lintels meant that as soon we received the specification, we knew which lintel company we'd be using," Mr.McSherry continues.

"Keystone has a history of good service, quick delivery to site, and ease of installation".

"I would definitely recommend them to other contractors".

Keystone's bespoke "Special" Steel Lintel solutions enable architects to allow their imaginations to have free reign when designing archways and other structural openings, without compromising the project's budget.

Even a lintel as challenging as Glenlola's entryway can be delivered to site, on time and on budget when partnering with a supplier such as Keystone Lintels.
