Keymer Tiles for new Buckinghamshire hotel roof

Keymer's handmade traditional clay roof tiles and finials have contributed to the prestigious look of an exclusive new Buckinghamshire home and were selected by T J Construction.

Situated in Buckland Common, the house stands in four acres of land, with unobstructed views overlooking the Chiltern Hills.

Using only materials of the very highest specification and standard, Keymer's handmade clay roof tiles, with over 400 years of heritage, were an obvious choice for T J Construction.

"We specialise in traditional houses and architecture and source the best materials possible for each job," said Trevor Jones, Director of T J Construction.

15,000 tiles were used on the project altogether, as well as 500 Club Tiles from Keymer's Ornamental Tile Range and six terracotta Fleur De Lis Finials positioned above the gables of the house.

The Club tiles were arranged in a diamond shape beneath each of the properties' six gables.

"Having sampled tiles from several clay tile manufacturers, we believe we have chosen the best with Keymer's hand may clay roof tiles," explained Trevor.

"They are incredibly durable and have the ring of a good quality tile that we didn't hear with the other samples".

"The colour match was great too, as was the texture of the tiles".

By mixing three tiles in Keymer's Traditional clay tile range on site - Wealden Red, Elizabethan and Antique - T J construction achieved a stunning colour balance on the roof.

"We experimented with the mix of sample colours until we got it right".

"The roof is a major, if not the biggest, feature on this house," Trevor added.

"We're all very pleased with how the tiles have turned out, giving a traditional, rustic appearance and quality".

"We would definitely specify Keymer's tiles again".

Although T J Construction specialises in traditional houses and architecture the house also has the benefits of modern technology, including ground source heat pumps, underfloor heating on all three levels, heat recovery and ventilation.

There is even a basement under the entire house giving the added facility of cinema, gym, library, laundry and wine cellar.

Offering the ultimate life of luxury, the home will represent the epitome of style and class.

Each of the tiles used were genuinely hand made by Keymer using Wealden clay dug from its own pits.

A tile that looks as good today as it did over 400 years ago, when it was first made, nothing provides greater aesthetics than the prestigious Traditional tile range.
