Kirkstone slate is used for pedestrian walkway

A Kirkstone Quarries product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 20, 2010

Kirkstone, the natural Cumbrian slate and architectural stone specialist, has worked closely with artist Susanna Heron to provide its Brathay Blue Black slate for a covered pedestrian walkway.

Art Street is located at City Inn's flagship hotel in Westminster.

The tone, texture and natural characteristics of Kirkstone's Brathay slate, which includes a fine gold thread of iron oxide, provided a canvas for Susanna to create a unique piece of art.

The 'Elements' installation showcases the versatility of Kirkstone's natural slate, from typical commercial applications for interior flooring, cladding and specialist fabrications through to, exterior landscaping and facades.

Kirkstone worked alongside artist and architects to fabricate the distinctive Brathay Blue Black cladding panels.
