Roof constructed from Kingspan KS1000
Roof constructed from Kingspan KS1000 Roof Tile offers considerable cost and time savings in the construction process.
Against the beautiful backdrop of Wykeham, an area of outstanding natural beauty in North Yorkshire, four commercial buildings have been built, blending in perfectly with the pretty surroundings of sandstone and cedar wood The roofs have been constructed from Kingspan KS1000 Roof Tile, a single component insulated tile panel system that perfectly replicates the look of traditional pantiles, while offering considerably cost and time savings in the construction process

Also, on this project, the use of CLADBOY, an innovative piece of mechanical handling equipment, also speeded up construction.
Leon Keogh, Project Manager at Dawney Estates, who undertook the building work on behalf of the land owner Lord Downe, explains why he selected the system: "I hadn't realised it but I had come across Roof Tile many times on my trips around the area.
It had been used on a prestigious barn conversion in a local village, but just assumed it was a traditional slate roof.

First For Kingspan In Soft Drinks Industry
A soft drinks storage and distribution centre in Bristol has become the first industrial building in the UK to be clad externally with Kingspan Insulated Panel's KS1200CS coldstore composite panels.
A roofing contractor familiar with the panel system confirmed what it was and I was astounded because they replicate the look and feel of laid clay pantiles.
I realised that it in view of the planning constraints it would be the ideal roofing solution for our new build solution." Kingspan's Roof Tile system in a terracotta colour, was used in conjunction with locally quarried sandstone and cedar wood cladding and the roof blends in perfectly with the local vernacular.
With the use of the CLADBOY, a vacuum panel lifter attached to a crane, panels were moved directly into position and did not have to be handled manually.
Leon continues: "The CLADBOY is an excellent piece of equipment, which combined with the Roof Tile product helped to reduce construction times by at least 50% and that's a conservative estimate.
Not only was the build speed extremely impressive but because it created a weatherproof envelope in the fraction of the normal time, follow on trades were allowed on site much earlier." Offering all the advantages of a traditional clay appearance it is 80% lighter than traditional tile construction.
It provides insulation certainty over a building's lifetime and is the only insulated roof tile panel system available in the UK.
As a single fix pre-engineered product, it removes all the complexities involved in laying a number of tiles.
The panels arrive on site and it is simply a case of fixing and fastening directly onto purlins.
With the acceleration of the build time there are obvious subsequent cost benefits from the system.
Leon concludes: "By using this system, compared to traditional methods we made a saving of £25 per square metre.
With one easy application, no need for plasterers, dry liners or painters.
It was a simple case of the job done.
"Lord Downe is delighted with the results.
The Roof Tile system helped to significantly reduce project costs, satisfy strict planning constraints and help to address environmental concerns.
We will definitely look at using this system again in the future." The system is fire engineered and insurer approved FIREsafe and has been tested and approved to Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) standards.
