Kingspan Insulated Panels has made a valuable contribution to a £1.7 million redevelopment in Little Hulton, Salford.

Kingspan Insulated Panels has made a valuable contribution to a £1.7 million redevelopment in Little Hulton, Salford.

Its KS1000 RT Roof Tile system was used on a new retail park, which is occupied by major supermarket chain Netto and frozen food specialists Farm Foods.

The site of the redevelopment was main contractor GandJ Seddon's old office in Armitage Avenue, which they vacated when they moved to their prestigious new headquarters off junction 4 of the M61.

Netto occupies a 10,000 sq ft unit, Farm Foods occupies 4,600 sq ft and 6,000 sq ft of new retail space remains available to let.

Kingspan's Roof Tile system was specified by main contractor GandJ Seddon and installed by Aztec Roofing.

Frank Smith, contracts manager at Aztec comments that "Roof Tile provided the necessary high performance" and describes a "good working relationship" with Kingspan, the manufacturers of high performance and quality roof and wall systems.

The Roof Tile system is lightweight, contains a FIREsafe insulation core, and satisfies stringent planning processes.

Its single fix means that it can be installed directly onto steel or timber purlins, eliminating the need for battens, roof felt, and a separate layer of insulation, so construction time is therefore shortened.

The system is fire engineered and insurer approved FIREsafe and has been tested and approved to Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) standards.

GandJ Seddon had occupied the premises at Armitage Avenue since 1897.

Demolition took place in September 2004 and work was started on the first of two large retail units in October 2004.
