Kingspan Insulated Panels has literally finished top of the class with the Department of Education in Ireland The company's Kingzip composite roof panel was used at a new school in County Dublin to help create a smooth, stylish and attractive appearance for the building

Kingspan has created an attractive environment for the pupils and staff at Griffeen Valley Educate Together National School in Lucan County Dublin.

The school has benefited from the use of Kingzip, to create a stylish look in around half the time it takes using traditional construction techniques.

Architects, Coady Partnership, in Dublin was responsible for the new build project and the Kingzip system was specified on the basis of its speed of its site erection.

As a fast-track project, the school building is largely timber frame, it was critical to be able to weathertight the building quickly.

Architect Tomas Sexton comments: "An aluminium standing seam roof was considered the best way forward because of its rapid construction technique".

"The Kingzip system certainly provides that, but it also provides an attractive appearance and is maintenance free, an important consideration in this case where there are budget constraints".

"The standing seam joints also have a smaller scale than other metal roof claddings, which also have a more industrial aesthetic, a look we were conscious of avoiding." Kingzip successfully integrates Kingspan's insulated roof panel technology with advanced standing seam construction techniques.

The pre-engineered zip-up roofing system has been created to deliver enhanced design flexibility, aesthetic appeal, performance characteristics and buildability.

A point Tomas is quick to reiterate: "One of the key benefits of the Kingzip system is that it satisfies the Department of Education's requirements to provide a guaranteed lifespan of at least 25 years".

"Kingspan was able to provide that." Griffeen Valley Educate Together National School has 16 classrooms with a maximum class size of 30.

It is a project of a serious undertaking.

The school has been in existence for four years and up until recently has operated in temporary accommodation.

It will take another four years to fully occupy the building.

Elaine Harris, Chairperson of Board of Management at Griffeen Valley, is impressed with the results.

She comments: "The parents, staff and pupils are thrilled with the new building".

"The compliments on the 'child-centredness' of the design, the bright, airy rooms and care and thought put into the design were commented on by all".

"We are certainly very honoured to have it as our home." The Kingzip system comes as one, easy-to-handle, weathertight component for fast-track installation.

It is supplied complete with perimeter seals and is available with matching fascias, gutters and flashings.

It brings together the insulation and condensation minimising performance of our insulated panels with the unrivalled weathertight properties of standing seam technology.
