Kimpton heat pump technology

A Kimpton Contracts product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 9, 2007

Business Park reduces its carbon emissions and energy consumption by as much as 70% thanks to a ground source heat pump being installed to fuel its heating and cooling system.

The ground source closed loop heat pump works by collecting heat from the ground and transferring it to the Park's HVAC system for use in heating the offices.

Wirral-based Kimpton Building Services is currently installing the new HVAC system.

Managing Director Richard Kimpton comments on the installation, "This innovative system is both an environmentally sound choice for Wellington Business Park, and a cost effective option for heating the Park's offices".

"Heat pumps use renewable energy, are easy to install with no ongoing maintenance and are completely safe with no risk of explosion or carbon monoxide poisoning".

"Wellington Park's new heat pump will supply all its heating and hot water needs, so there will be no need for an oil or gas boiler and the only difference occupiers will notice is dramatically lower energy costs!" Kimpton Building Services built its foundations on the central heating boom more than 40 years ago, when there was a shortage of coal and, as an alternative, gas was cheaper, cleaner and in abundant supply.

Now the company is at the forefront of Heat Pump technology as it emerges as a strong alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems.

The technology has the Government's backing, with grants available to those arranging the installation of a heat pump system.

Richard continues "As increased environmental awareness brings about changes in environmental legislation the construction industry will need to find more energy efficient solutions, and implementation of measures such as ground source heat pumps will become commonplace".

Indeed, Kimpton believes that the only thing holding back heat pumps is a lack of awareness about how the technology works and the benefits it can offer, so the company is hosting a programme of free seminars for architects and specifiers to help them find out more.

Details of the seminar series can be found by contacting Kimpton on tel: 0151 343 1963.
