Kimpton provides PV solar panels for Sure Start
Children in Yorkshire children's centres will now be familiar with carbon footprint reduction thanks to photovoltaic (PV) solar panels installed by Kimpton Renewable Energy Systems.
The two new build Sure Start centres have been constructed by main contractor, R N Wooler, within the grounds of Trinity and All Saints School in Bingley and Sandals School in Bradford.
The two new build projects incorporate renewable energy as part of a best practice approach to building more sustainable buildings for the education sector.
The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council has outlined a clear strategy for increasing the use of renewable energy and reducing energy wastage in education buildings, in line with central Government targets for achieving 20 per cent of our electricity from renewables by 2020.
The two projects build on Kimpton's growing portfolio of Sure Start schemes.
The company has already completed eight similar schemes over the past five years, most of which have seen them working with main contractor Conlon construction for Cheshire County Council.
The company has recently completed a two phase project at Daven Primary School in Congleton, which involved heating, domestic hot water and ventilation systems as part of a refurbishment.
Meanwhile in Northwich, Kimpton has also recently completed on site at Victoria Road Primary where the company installed underfloor heating, domestic hot water, ventilation and a full building management system in the new build scheme, along with three PV solar panels to help power the heating system.
