The reinforced aluminium foil on both sides of the panels makes the System very durable and also aesthetically pleasing in open to view applications The KoolDuct System has zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), superior insulation properties and minimal air leakage.
The closed cell structure of the phenolic insulation panels from which it is made allows significantly thinner insulation and the system's air-tightness delivers enhanced efficiency, yielding noticeable savings in energy consumption.
The System has a number of benefits over traditional sheet metal ducting.
KoolDuct pre-insulated ducting is installed in a single fix, eliminating the need for second fix lagging altogether and yielding savings in both time and cost.
The KoolDuct System weighs only around 15% of equivalent galvanised steel ductwork and can be installed flush to the ceiling where space is an issue, typically saving a valuable 150-200mm.
Importantly for installations in public buildings, when exposed to fire, the outer surface of the phenolic insulation panels forms a carbonaceous layer which retards further flame spread and penetration allowing the System to achieve a Class O / Low Risk fire rating to the Building Regulations / Standards.
The refurbished student facilities at Brunel are part of a comprehensive development which has unified the University onto one campus for the first time in 25 years and includes a refectory complex with a stunning atrium entrance to bars, cafes and retail outlets.
