Since 1st May 2008, all new homes have had to be rated against the Code, which has six levels and homes built with public money or on public land have to achieve Code Level 3.
Furthermore, the 2010 Edition of Approved Document L1A is set to require the carbon emissions standards required for Code Level 3 and then the 2013 Edition will require those of Code Level 4.
There has been some uncertainty over the wall, roof, or floor U-values best placed to help to achieve the carbon dioxide emissions required for each Code Level.
The Kingspan guide contains an easy-reference table that for the first time provides recommended starting point U-values that are clearly linked to the Code ratings they will help to attain.
Also provided is technical guidance on how to insulate different types of construction to achieve Code Levels 3 and 4.
