Klober warning on new dry fix kits

A Klober product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 20, 2009

Klober Managing Director, David Arendell, says that the marketing of some universal dry fix ridge and hip kits is misleading roofers and merchants.

David Arendell spoke out in the face of products coming onto the market which are being purchased on price as genuine like-for-like alternatives to well known branded kits.

He added "These products may not contain key elements for hip installation such as crow clips for fitting cut tiles".

As one of the market leaders in dry fixing systems, Klober's Roll-Fix kits include all the necessary components in a single box.

If a roofer has to buy some items separately, it is an additional cost and may not be noticed until he is on site.

Seals may not be universal for round and angle ridges and hips, and we have also heard of hip support trays not being of suitable lengths for packing within the kit.

This can only encourage bad practice, and after seeing such marked progress in roofing industry standards, this is surely something it doesn't need.

It will also affect confidence in dry fix systems if cut tiles are not properly fixed and later fail.

We feel these suppliers are showing contempt for accepted industry standards, while also exaggerating supposed cost savings.

The very definition of a kit is that it includes all that you need to do a job properly!.
