Knauf Toughpanel takes the knock out of impacts
New Toughpanel from Knauf Drywall is a high-strength gypsum-based fibreboard for walls that get a lot of knocks.
Fibre-reinforced 15mm Knauf Toughpanel boards absorb impact to increase durability and reduce life-cycle costs.
This gives specifiers a practical, cost-effective solution for traditionally high-maintenance surfaces - and an excellent alternative to masonry.
Knauf Toughpanel was specially developed for particularly demanding environments where extreme impact resistance is a primary consideration.
These include areas with high volumes of unsupervised pedestrian traffic - for example corridors and stairwells in busy public places such as railway stations, airports, retail centres, sports and entertainment venues, schools and hospitals.
With Knauf Toughpanel, specifiers get significantly greater strength with all the benefits of plasterboard - including installation speed, acoustic performance and fire resistance.
A typical 100mm partition, consisting of a layer of Knauf Toughpanel on each side of a 70mm Knauf Acoustic 'C' Stud, with two layers of 25mm Knauf Crown Acoustic Partition Roll in the void, provides 30 minutes' fire resistance and 53dB airborne sound reduction.
This construction is suitable for applications up to 3,700mm in height.
Handled and installed in the same way as plasterboard, Knauf Toughpanel installations are completed with a Knauf FP90 skim plaster finish.
Knauf Toughpanel is available through merchants nationwide and is supplied in 1,200x2,400mm boards, 25 to a pallet.
