Knauf Drywall's systems have set acoustic and aesthetic standards for the new school.

The steel framed, two storey school features floor-to-soffit walls between teaching rooms which consist of 70mm Knauf C Studs at 600mm centres, with two layers of 15mm Knauf Soundshield plasterboard on either side and 25mm Knauf Crown Partition Roll in the voids.

This construction meets the 45dB (DnTw) airborne sound reduction between general teaching areas, as required by Building Bulletin 93.

Walls separating teaching areas from corridors have 70mm Knauf C Studs at 400mm centres, one layer of 15mm Knauf Impact Panel on each side and 25mm void insulation, also meeting BB93 acoustic requirements.

The partition designs also involved deflection head and abutment joint detailing to maintain acoustic performance and fire resistance.

Science labs in the school feature slotted Knauf Apertura B6 patterned plasterboard.

Ceilings in other teaching areas use the Knauf MF suspended system with 12.5mm Knauf Standard Wallboard.

In the school's changing room showers and other wet areas, ceramic tiles have been mounted on Knauf Aquapanel Tile Backer Board.

Aquapanel is a 12.5mm fibre reinforced cement board and is used in the same way as plasterboard.

It is designed specifically for wet areas where it supports tiling up to 50kg/m2.

Knauf Drywall manufactures a full range of plasters, plasterboards, insulating laminates, dry flooring, drywall accessories, and metal sections for domestic, commercial and public sector applications.

Knauf Drywall has pioneered carbon neutral plasterboard in the UK with Knauf Futurepanel.

Knauf Drywall actively promotes recycling from building sites and has a zero waste policy in its energy efficient factories.
