Glass Market Kommerling is recognised as Europe's leading manufacturer and supplier of polysulphide, polyurethane and hotmelt products.

At its manufacturing plants in Germany it produces in excess of 40,000 tonnes of sealants per annum.

These products are a vital component in the manufacture and production of insulated glass (IG).

IG is found throughout the construction industry in both domestic and commercial environments, through to highly specialist applications such as toughened glass for those buildings where security or safety is a critical factor.

Kommerling is working closely with its customers to ensure that all its products for the IG market conform to the requirements of the new EN1279 standards for IG units.

Kommerling sells to both unit manufacturers as well as window manufacturers and customers include Abbseal, Speedframe and Pilkington.

In addition ThermoSeal, distributes its Isomelt hot melt products throughout the UK.

Products The company's product ranges covers all areas of the IG market.

Primary sealants GD115 and GD115 Grey - Thermoplastic synthetic rubber which provides an even and uniform seal with good adhesion to glass and spacer, and a very low water vapour transmission rate.

Secondary sealants GD116 - a 2-component polysulphide sealant that conforms to pr EN 1279 parts 2 and 3.

It has low water vapour transmission rates and low gas permeability.

GD 677 - a 2-component polyurethane sealant, which has good adhesion to glass, aluminium and steel.

It is also high strength with a low water vapour transmission rate.

GD 823N - 1-component silicone sealant for exposed edges e.g greenhouses and conservatories.

This is tested to prEN 1279 part 2 and in addition has excellent weathering and UV-resistance.

It is also non-sag and solvent free.

Hotmelts Isomelt - a solvent free, 2-component polysulfide for use as a single seal product.

This comes with a 10-year guarantee and is used by many of the traditional manufacturers.

Kodimelt TPS a thermoplastic spacer with its own integrated desiccant.

With its high elasticity, low water vapour and gas permeability, and suitability for cavities from 6mm - 20mm this product is becoming increasingly popular with manufacturers wanting a warm edge product.
