Kommerling fabricator Elders Walker , is adding a new 30,000sq ft factory to its operation to facilitate its expansion plans and develop the new Eco-Window PVCu product range.

Demand is increasing in the North East for the company's environmentally friendly, thermally efficient and lead-free Eco-Window system and the company's brand awareness is quickly gathering momentum The new factory in Washington, Tyne and Wear, has enabled the firm to invest in new machinery resulting in increased production capacity and faster turnaround on key products

The factory upgrade is a move which came as a result of sales success, driven by the public's increasing awareness of environmental issues.

A spokesperson for the company comments, "It seems the green issue is resonating with an increasing number of decision makers who are acting responsibly, purchasing products which are environmentally friendly throughout their entire lifecycle".

Elders' 'Eco-Window' is fabricated from the lead-free Connoisseur Gold system from the market-leader in PVCu window profile, Kommerling.

Kommerling manufactures its profile to the Greenline standard which employs Calcium-Zinc stabilisers making it kinder to the environment, colour fast and able to keep its sheen for longer.

Lead-free Kommerling Greenline windows come with a high level of environmental responsibility which satisfies the needs of both local and health authorities when specifying for projects.

As a result of this green initiative, Elders is also receiving a lot of support from the public sector on environmental issues.

Feedback from Elders' trade customers has shown a shift in householders' motivations for buying double glazing.

Before, where it may have been a case of replacing old wooden windows, now trade customers are replacing old style PVCu windows and doors - In other words replacing the replacements.

With technical information readily available on the internet which today's consumers can access, they are on another level in terms of environmental awareness to those who bought back in the nineties.

Their change in motivation is clear; customers simply want a greener product with enhanced energy efficiency and thermal properties.

The third generation product fabricated at Elders is superior to many on the market and is proving to be a favourite amongst householders in the North East.

The spokesperson continues, "Providing the right product at the right time and at the right price has also attracted a wide range of trade customers".

"The success that Elders has enjoyed has meant there have been a lot of changes in a relatively short period of time and as a result of these changes our trade customer base has increased fourfold".

"We are pleased to say that with the new premises fully functioning, we are certainly prepared for further growth in the future.".
