First eight tonne Kubota bought by plant hirer
Toton Plant Hire is the first UK company to take delivery of the new Kubota KX080-3 eight tonne mini excavator.
The new model was previewed at SED 2006, prior to its official UK launch in August.
It provides class-leading performance; with exceptional safety, durability, reliability, versatility and comfort, together with low running costs and ease of servicing.
Standard features include Kubota's unique key-based 'ANTI-THEFT' system to combat the increasing theft of construction plant, and a new adjustable maximum oil flow on the auxiliary circuit to optimise the use of attachments.

Tracking device gets stolen Kubota Mini back fast
Kubota demonstration machine was reported stolen but was recovered 70 minutes later thanks to the GloMoCo GEMini Secure Plus security tracking device fitted to the mini excavator.
Kubota is the UK, European and world leader in mini excavators and already provides the widest range of minis available from a single manufacturer.
With the introduction of the KX080-3 customers can now select from 18 base models, spanning the weight range from 850 kg to 8 tonnes, and including the increasingly popular zero tail swing machines.
The KX080-3 offers a well-balanced arm and bucket to provide the operator with unparalleled digging force.
This allows it to dig faster and more efficiently, in the toughest conditions.
It delivers a reduced rear tail swing radius that takes it into the tightest spots, coupled with improved machine stability.
The rear overhang features cast-iron protectors to significantly reduce the chances of damage to the machine when working in restricted space.
The steel-core positioning and lug pattern on the rubber crawler has been designed to achieve a long working life and give outstanding durability and lower vibration when travelling.
Engine and Fuel System.
It is powered by the Kubota V3800DI large displacement direct injection engine which, combined with the ultra-efficient hydraulic system, maximises the digging force and minimises noise levels, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Kubota's Auto Idling System is fitted as standard.
When high engine RPM isn't needed, or when control levers are left in neutral for longer than four seconds, it automatically reduces the engine to idling speed.
An electric refuelling pump, fitted as standard, includes an auto-stop function that reduces spillage and increases safety.
The fuel tank can be completely filled in approximately three minutes.
Undercarriage.
The undercarriage has a 450mm rubber track, an upper track roller and five single-flange track rollers on each track.
There's also a two-speed travel switch on the dozer lever.
Hydraulic System.
The KX080-3 is the first mini/midi excavator to offer adjustable maximum oil flow on the auxiliary circuit (SP1).
This unique feature, in conjunction with the Kubota Intelligent Control System, allows the oil flow to operate according to the attachment in use.
With this system the operator can select either double or single-acting.
Oil flow rate on SP1 is changed by the push of a switch, without the need for tools or additional manual adjusting procedures.
It simplifies the use of attachments, which are highly sensitive to incorrect flow rates, and prevents damage caused by incorrect pressure settings during maximum performance.
There's also a new auxiliary hydraulic third line return and a second auxiliary circuit (SP2) for accessories.
A load-sensing hydraulic system ensures smooth operation, regardless of load size.
As a result, fuel consumption is reduced and greater overall operating performance is delivered.
Safety System.
It has a ROPS/FOPS approved cabin with vastly improved rear-side visibility and a hydraulic controls locking system and slew motor timer brake fitted as standard.
To prevent theft it features the new, unique Kubota 'ANTI-THEFT' system.
The easy-to-use security device is the first of its kind to be fitted as standard by an excavator manufacturer.
It's based on an individually programmed key for each machine that replaces the traditional universal starter key.
Each unique key has an identification code embedded in an IC chip that incorporates a state-of-the-art immobiliser system.
The key starts and stops the engine like a conventional ignition key, and also opens the machine's cab door, fuel filler cap and engine canopy.
Without it, the fuel, hydraulic and electric systems are fully immobilised and any attempt to start the machine with an un-programmed key activates the system's alarm.
Other safety features include an engine start safety system on the left console; travel motor and swivel motor with disc brake, overload warning buzzer and an anti-drop valve on the boom.
Working Equipment.
There are auxiliary hydraulic circuit pipings for both SP1 and SP2 to the arm end, as well as two working lights on the cabin and one on the boom, plus a 2100mm arm as UK standard.
Servicing.
Easy access is provided to all the critical service points, which are conveniently located underneath three bonnets.
There are also longer intervals for greasing.
Cabin.
Excellent operator comfort is provided, with air conditioning fitted as standard.
The spacious cabin has low noise levels and progressive finger-touch type auxiliary hydraulic controls.
Also as standard, there's a weight adjustable, high-back, full suspension deluxe seat, hydraulic pilot control levers with wrist rests, travel levers with foot pedals, cabin heaters for defrosting and demisting, front window power-assisted with gas damper, a 12V power source for radio-stereo, two speakers, radio antenna, wiring harness, radio location and a cup holder.
Said Kubota (UK) - Construction Equipment Sales and Marketing Manager, Richard Harrison: "The KX080-3 incorporates an enormous array of advanced high-tech features and equipment that all come as standard, providing exceptional value-for-money".
"Designed to boost productivity and increase operator safety and comfort, it is now our largest mini and we expect it to become as popular with customers as are all the other smaller models in the range." Kubota machines are known and respected for their reliability, durability, excellent residual values and appetite for hard work within industries ranging from civil engineering to plant hire, utilities to landscaping and house building to grounds maintenance.
"New models, such as the KX080-3, and continuing enhancements to our existing world-leading product range, combined with the strength of our nationwide dealer network, should help ensure our continuing leadership of the mini excavator market for many years to come", added Richard Harrison.
