Toton Plant Hire is the first UK company to take delivery of the new Kubota KX080-3 eight tonne mini excavator.

Toton Plant Hire is the first UK company to take delivery of the new Kubota KX080-3 eight tonne mini excavator The short tail swing model was amongst a batch of six Kubota machines bought by the Nottingham plant hirer, which runs an all-Kubota mini fleet

Also in the GBP210,000 order were three 2.45 tonne U25-3 and two five tonne U50-3 models.

It brings to 16 the number of Kubota machines in Toton Plant's growing minis fleet.

Managing director Peter Fearon said: "We have been operating an all-Kubota minis fleet since 1999 because they are the best.

Whenever someone calls us for a mini excavator and we tell them we supply Kubota machines, we almost always get the business.

"We have never had an eight tonner before and when we heard that Kubota was bringing one out we decided to wait for it.

There is definitely a growing market for an eight tonne mini that can load an eight wheel tipper lorry on smaller sites." The KX080-3 offers a well-balanced arm and bucket to provide the operator with unparalleled digging force.

This allows it to dig faster and more efficiently, in the toughest conditions.

It delivers a reduced rear-tail swing radius that takes it into the tightest spots, coupled with improved machine stability.

The rear overhang features cast-iron protectors to significantly reduce the chances of damage to the machine when working in restricted space.

With the introduction of the KX080-3, Kubota now offers 18 base models, spanning the weight range from 850 kg to 8-tonne.

Peter Fearon said that Toton Plant was moving towards an all zero tail swing/short tail swing mini fleet because the current situation demanded it.

"With housing sites getting smaller all the time, as are construction sites generally, we need to have machines that can work well in the most confined of spaces." It has standardised on Kubota minis because of their quality of build, superior performance, operator preference and high resale values.

The new unique key-based 'ANTI-THEFT' security system, which is now included as standard equipment on Kubota mini excavators, also proved an attractive selling point.

The six new minis, like all its other Kubota machines, were supplied by local authorised Kubota dealer, BTE Plant Sales, of Markfield, Leicester.

They are fitted with Abiljo Quick Hitch devices for the speedy swapping of buckets without the need to take out pins, plus hammer pipe works for use with attachments.

Said Ben Elliott, managing director of BTE Plant Sales: "We are very pleased to have supplied the first of the new eight tonne machines.

Judging from the amount of enquiries we are receiving, I am sure it will be the first of many".

Toton Plant Hire's customers range from national construction companies to small local builders.

Its new KX080-3 has been put straight to work with long-term customer, Select Plant, digging out for a new health clinic under construction in the Nottingham area.

Kubota is the European and world leader in mini excavators and provides the largest range of minis available from a single manufacturer, including the widest choice of zero tail swing machines.

With a legendary reputation for quality, performance, reliability and excellent resale values, their versatility makes them the ideal tool for many different applications and end-users, from civil engineering to landscaping and plant hire companies to owner operators.
