Kurawood launch VECOwood the hardwood alternative
Kurawood launched range of wood products crafted from VECOwood, the world's only softwood that has been organically modified to match the beauty and performance of hardwood.
"This is an important step for the company" says Kevin Fraser, Kurawood's sales and marketing director.
"We are talking to a wide range of customers and are investing in factory expansion as a response to the levels of interest we have received".
"It will mean that we can respond promptly to our customers' needs." The company's increased production capacity should be felt on the markets in August 2008.
Kurawood's innovative product is softwood, pressure injected with an organic water soluble solution.
The solution links with the wood's molecules and polymerises within the wood, creating a hard, durable wood once it has dried.
The modification process is designed to change the characteristics of the timber to mimic those of tropical hardwood.
Kurawood sources its wood from New Zealand's native fast growing FSC certified plantation pine forests.
Fraser says "New Zealand Radiata pine grows very quickly and because of the climate the trees grow very tall and wide so we are able to sustainably source far more wood far more quickly than other manufacturers.".
