When housing developer Berkeley Homes asked for a special deal from Lafarge Roofing, they sent them running - to raise £6,000 cash for the British Heart Foundation.

When housing developer Berkeley Homes asked for a special deal from Lafarge Roofing, they sent them running That's because Lafarge Roofing is one of the leading industry names behind Berkeley Homes' team of four in the Flora London Marathon, as official sponsor for their 26.2-mile run to raise £6,000 cash for the British Heart Foundation in front of millions of spectators and TV viewers on 18 April

"It's a great opportunity to back one of the most successful names in house-building in one of the world's biggest events on the sporting calendar - and even better, it's all for a good cause," said Lafarge Roofing marketing manager, Kevin Williams, a competitive sportsman last seen on Channel 4 TV competing in the Challenger Trophy 2002.

Making up the Berkeley Homes team in this year's London Marathon are planning and design manager Simon Collins, construction director John Gaffney and head of landscape design Andrew Smith with Martin Ford of their landscaping partners, Ford Brothers.

Readers can get in the thick of the atmosphere at any one of 80 pubs known to be situated along the route pounded by 30,000 participants, who start as usual from Greenwich Park.

The entire event, described as the longest street party in the world, is expected to raise at least £15 million for good causes.
