Lafarge Plasterboard literature helps designers
New literature from Lafarge Plasterboard highlights how modern drywall design features can be used to create stunning interiors.
These reflect diverse acoustic, fire, moisture and pressure resistance requirements.
They range from partitions in the state of the art IT suite housing the Met Office's two super computers - where there is a requirement to maintain 500 Pascals of positive air pressure - to twin frame, high performance acoustic partitions in the conference centre.
The majority of the designs utilise Lafarge Megadeco board as the outer facing, whilst Firecheck, dBcheck, Vapourcheck and Moisturecheck boards provide the inner layer, according to specific requirements.
Key design features include a conical viewing area looking out over the development's central indoor street and elliptical meeting rooms.
Installation of the internal partitions has been primarily undertaken by IPD Interiors Ltd, with work to some internal structural walls by ECL Contracts Ltd.
The project architects are Broadway Malyan and the main contractors Costain Skanska Joint Venture, working on behalf of the Met Office.
Now complete and fully operational, the new headquarters will accommodate some 1,150 staff, many of whom have transferred from the former headquarters at Bracknell.
