New literature from Lafarge Plasterboard highlights how modern drywall design features can be used to create stunning interiors.
The 90 degree brace has a central V section which provides an effective sound break.
Incorporation of VBrace 90 typically improves sound attenuation performance by more then 5 dB relative to use of a standard rigid brace.
VBrace 90 is particularly effective at absorbing low frequency sound in the 50-125 Hz range.
The brace retains its resilience at forces up to 500N/m2.
The product is suitable for independent linings to external masonry walls in cinemas, theatres, nightclubs and industrial buildings.
It is ideal for separating partitions in a wide range of dwellings and combines acoustic performance with the creation of a highly robust partition.
In twin frame partitions it connects the C stud from one frame, to the C stud in the other, via the inner wallboarded face of the first stud.
Partitions constructed using this approach typically have double sound resisting dBcheck boards on their outer faces with a single inner Firecheck wallboard on one stud only.
This arrangement enables fire performance to be retained, irrespective of service cut-outs in the outer face and without the need for separate fire barriers, noggins or additional insulation.
This becomes a five board system.
When used in acoustic lining applications VBrace 90 connects the metal stud used in the lining to the blockwork so that the independent studs can be standard C type instead of I type, giving a cost effective solution with minimal acoustic transmission and minimal thermal transmission to the exterior walls.
