Laidlaw Solutions win two of the five categories and receive two more commendations at the 2006/7 Architectural Ironmongery Specification Awards.

Laidlaw successes at Architectural Ironmongery Awards Willenhall based Laidlaw Solutions Limited set an enviable record at the 2006/7 Architectural Ironmongery Specification Awards, held in the famous Long Room at Lord's on 26th March, winning two of the five categories and receiving two more commendations

The bi-annual awards, sponsored jointly by the Royal Institute of British Architects and The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers acknowledge excellence in this increasingly important and often difficult field.

50 buildings throughout the U.K.

were visited by an independent architect and an architectural ironmonger, prior to assessment by a National Judging Panel.

Showing the diversity of project to which the company provides products and design support, Laidlaw was Joint Winner of the 'Commercial' and Overall Winner of the 'Residential' category.

The Queen's Medical Research Institute, Edinburgh, was said to have fulfilled the criteria for "aesthetics combined with durability and high performance".

A fully co-ordinated range of hardware, including stainless steel door levers was supplied to the three centre complex, which employs 670 staff.

By contrast, the specification for the Reeve's Court Retirement Village in St Helens, not only had to meet current legislation but the rigours of the UK Police's flagship initiative 'Secured by Design'.

The two 'Commendations' were for Stornoway's new Arts Centre, again in the 'Commercial' sector, and Birmingham's International Convention Centre for 'Established Buildings'.

Receiving the awards, Laidlaw Group Managing Director John Jefferies said "These awards acknowledge the quality of work going on at our 11 branches, supplying critical design guidance and, ultimately, hundreds of architectural ironmongery products to projects large and small".

"The last three years has seen our business grow at an exceptional pace and we believe this has been due to a combination of quality of product, outstanding service and a real focus on our customers".
