National building envelope specialists Lakesmere has been awarded contracts on two of UK's most prestigious new hospital developments.

Expanding on its already impressive portfolio of projects in the health sector, national building envelope specialists Lakesmere has been awarded contracts totalling more than GBP2.7 million to work on two of the UK's most prestigious new hospital developments.

Lakesmere teams in the South and Midlands will be joining forces to complete the prestigious new GBP2 million contract for Birmingham Acute PFI Hospital.

The scheme will involve the installation of several unusual and distinctive shaped Kalzip roofs.

Maximising the company's resources and national scope, the newly created Birmingham office originally won the contact but owing to the sheer scale of the project, the Southern team will undertake the majority of the installation works.

Further North, Lakesmere's Glasgow office has been awarded a prestigious GBP740K contract to work on the new West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow.

Located in the grounds of Glasgow's Gartnavel Hospital, the new state of the art cancer unit is set to become the largest facility of its kind in Scotland.

The contract will involve Lakemere installing a CGL copper rainscreen system for main contractor HBG Construction, with work expected to be complete by June 2007.

Moving away from the health sector, Lakesmere's Lymm office has also been appointed to work on the new Radclyffe School in Oldham.

The contract, valued at GBP1.2 million, is the latest addition to the company's ever-increasing portfolio of projects in the education sector.

Lakesmere will complete the installation of a Kalzip aluminium roof and various additional cladding works for main contractor Kier Construction.

Finally in the South, the team has been awarded a prestigious GBP2.7 million project to work on a new purpose built data centre for global investment bankers Merrill Lynch.

The project will see the company's existing facility in Camberley, Surrey refurbished and extended and will involve Lakesmere installing both a Kalzip aluminium roof and Kingspan wall panels for main contractor Mace Plus.

Designed by Interior Architects (IA), the new data centre will also feature 'special effect' louvres that will be installed by Lakesmere to create an unusual and striking 'Mondrian' design.
