Lakesmere on a winner with new contracts

National building envelope specialists Lakesmere has announced new contract wins totalling GBP11.6million.

Lakesmere North has been appointed to complete various roofing and cladding works on two of the region's newest and most prestigious residential projects In the heart of Leeds, the team has been awarded a GBP3.5 million contract to complete various works on the ambitious Saxton Street redevelopment

Working alongside developers Urban Splash and architects Urban North, the project will see two existing ex-council concrete tower blocks transformed into luxury city centre apartments.

Lakesmere's remit includes the supply and installation of structural wall panels, with rainscreen cladding and associated fascia and soffit detailing.

The team will commence work in January 2008.

Adding to its portfolio of residential schemes in Manchester, Lakesmere North has also been awarded a GBP1.5million contract to complete the envelope package on the new Flint Glass Wharf apartment development in the district of Ancoats.

The team will design and install a new steel frame, with SFS framing and Kingspan composite cladding.

Working alongside main contractor Linford Group and architects Falconer Chester, Lakesmere will also complete various roofing works, including the installation of a membrane roof with feature I Beam detailing.

Work will begin in the New Year.

In Scotland, the Lakesmere Glasgow team are to start work on a GBP2.5million contract at the new West Lothian Civic Centre in Livingston.

Designed by architects BDP Glasgow, the innovative new building will feature Kalzip and Sarna roofing along with a striking facade featuring zinc CGL rainscreen cladding and brass copper shingles to the raised areas above the courts and Council Debating Chamber.

Lakesmere is currently on site with main contractor Laing O'Rourke and anticipate completion of works in June 2008.

A second contract win also sees the Lakesmere team involved in the fifth and largest phase of the regeneration of the Glasgow district of Anderston.

The GBP2.1million appointment will see Lakesmere design and install a cladding package featuring James and Taylor Carea rainscreen and Hadleys stud walls for main contractor Taylor Woodrow.

Designed by Aedas Architects, the GBP35million redevelopment programme includes the creation of a new residential tower block as well as a new commercial office building.

The recently created Lakesmere Midlands team also has reason to celebrate after being awarded a prestigious GBP1million contract to complete roofing and cladding works on the new 'prototype' Asda supermarket in Bridgend, North Wales.

The new concept store will boast a new specification and design and, designed by HGP Architects, will see Lakesmere install a Kalzip aluminium roof and Eurobond composite wall panels for main contractor Carillion.

The team are now on site, with completion of works expected by Christmas.

Working alongside French designers PLA Architects and main contractor RG Group, Lakesmere South has also been awarded a GBP1million contract to work on the new UK headquarters of Italian light manufacturer and distributor iGuzzini.

Lakesmere will be responsible for the design and installation of the building envelope, which will feature Schuco curtain walling, Arcelor rainscreen cladding and a Sarna membrane roof, over a 16-week programme.

The new office facility is to be located on a Greenfield site in Guildford, Surrey.
