Lakesmere complete design and installation of cladding package that covered approximately 16,000 sqm in total for main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine at new Chill Factor e snow dome in Manchester.
As the home of the UK's longest indoor ski slope, there's plenty to see inside the new Chill Factor e snow dome in Manchester but thanks to the cladding expertise of national building envelope specialists Lakesmere, the outside is also pretty cool Designed by leading architect FaulknerBrowns, the attractive multi-product cladding package is the first project in the UK to feature Kalzip's perforated facade in addition to standard Kalzip, Kalbau and Rodeca cladding

Lakesmere installation training under one roof
National building envelope specialist Lakesmere has invested in a new in-house state of the art Training Excellence Centre.
The Lakesmere team utilised the latest 3D Design technology to ensure the seemless integration of the various systems and to calculate the different tolerances between the primary steel framework and the cladding package.
Experienced in working with all of the different product systems, Lakesmere also provided the solution when the original specification of perforated Kalzip was unable to be curved to the tight radius that was required to clad the escape stair tower.
Lakesmere therefore suggested the use of standard Kalzip sheets that were crimp-curved to meet the required radius and ensure that the architects' vision wasn't compromised.
Located next to the motorway, the project's exposed site made for a challenging installation process, with the team using cradles and high-level platforms to complete the work.
The new Chill Factor e boasts an indoor ski slope measuring some 180m, making it the longest in the UK.
The project has also reunited Lakesmere and architects' FaulknerBrowns whom Lakesmere also worked on the Xscape ski and leisure centre project in Braehead.
