Sheerframe approved window and door fabricator MPH has manufactured and installed curtain walling at several Knowsley Housing Trust residential buildings.

Sheerframe approved window and door fabricator MPH has manufactured and installed curtain walling at several Knowsley Housing Trust residential buildings The project at the two and three storey blocks of flats, located at Hostock Close and Ropers Bridge Close, Whiston, Merseyside, involved the installation of full height curtain walling for the stairwells and required 40 screens

The refurbishment work was undertaken to replace the existing 1950s/60s curtain walling, in order to enhance the thermal properties and improve the design and the overall appearance.

This Knowsley Housing Trust contract was awarded to Preston based MPH via Fusion 21, the purchasing consortium for seven-major North West based housing associations that was established in 2003, to assist them in attaining their Best Value objectives.

It is the first curtain-walling project that MPH has secured via Fusion 21 and follows their diversification into this specialist sector which complements their window programmes.

The area Programme Manager at Knowsley Housing Trust says: "The new curtain walled stairwells at Hostock Close and Ropers Bridge Close have improved both the look and energy efficiency for residents.

"We pride ourselves on our commitment to providing high quality homes for our customers and this is typical of the improvements we are bringing through our GBP 300 million regeneration programme." MPH's decision to diversify into curtain walling has been extremely successful according to Greg Kane, Contracts Director: "We are very happy with this installation for Knowsley Housing Trust.

Having the skills - backed 100% by Sheerframe systems company L B Plastics - to handle these sort of projects completes our advanced PVC service, expanding our opportunities within long term partnering contracts, and enabling us to tackle an even greater number of refurbishment projects." MPH, which celebrated its 35th anniversary in June last year, employs 140 people at its Lostock Hall factory near Preston and manufactures over 1,000 Sheerframe 7000 system windows and doors per week, as well as a growing number of conservatories for the retail and newbuild sectors.
