Under BS 7412 all aspects of the window's manufacture, including window construction, safety, operation, strength and weather tightness are tested thoroughly.
This standard is required for the window to be tested under BS 7950, the specification for enhanced security performance for domestic windows.
Under BS 7950, which is vital under the Secured by Design scheme, the window is subjected to a series of simulated attacks and certification is awarded following satisfactory performance.

Sheerframe's top reversible windows are fitted with the unique Sheer turn hinge which allows the windows to open out traditionally retaining the advantages of a casement but the innovative design allows the window to reverse for safer cleaning from the inside of the property.
Sheerframe's side reversible window use similar hardware but allow the window to open on a horizontal axis, giving over a 90% open area and is often used to comply with fire egress requirements.
