Buckinghamshire Housing win for Leadbitter

A Leadbitter product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 16, 2009

Leadbitter Group have been awarded two contracts by Housing Solutions Group, the not-for-profit organisation which provides affordable and supported homes in the south-east of England.

Leadbitter Group will be constructing a total of 41 new homes in Buckinghamshire.

The contracts cover two new sites and involve the demolition of existing properties prior to the construction of 22 new homes in Princes Risborough and 19 new homes in Aylesbury.

The existing properties on the sites were formerly care homes and their replacement with new housing is part of a wider care re-provisioning by Buckinghamshire County Council.

As part of this wider scheme, two new, modern, care homes have been provided in Aylesbury (Lewin House) and Princes Risborough (Icknield Court).

On both developments, the architect is HFP Architects of Wendover while the structural engineer is Gemma BDS of Witney.

The timber-framed properties are being constructed to comply with the latest sustainability standards (Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3).

Photovoltaic cells and solar thermal panels are being installed in the roofs to generate electricity and provide hot water for heating.

John Parry, Leadbitter's Central Housing Regional Manager, said, "We have considerable experience of working with social housing providers across the UK developing large and small sites, providing well-designed and well-constructed affordable accommodation".
