Ledaire offers guide for school
ventilation
Food expert Prue Leith, who chairs the School Food Trust, is reported as stating that schools are still being built with inadequate kitchens, making it impossible to provide a healthy dinner
Ledaire Fabrications has been manufacturing kitchen ventilation systems for nearly 80 years and the company's Managing Director, Steve Leonard, said that there is a tremendous backlog of work to be done, estimating around 80% of schools have kitchen ventilation systems that do not meet the British Standard, BS6173:2001 Mr Leonard recently surveyed 40 schools in one London borough and not one conformed to the British Standard or HVCA DW/172, the standard for kitchen ventilation systems

The UK government's Building Schools for the Future scheme is a GBP45 billion programme under which every secondary school in the country will be rebuilt or refurbished by 2020.
