Griesheim Industrial Park has installed an ID badge-based access control and time and attendance recording solution using the latest LEGIC contactless smart card technology.

Almost 150 years old, Griesheim Industrial Park has become a well established production, research and development facility for the chemical industry and related sectors, and today almost 30 businesses and 1,500 employees call the 61 hectare site home When the management of the industrial park decided to redesign the facilities vehicle access system, one condition was that both pedestrian and vehicle access had to be integrated into a single system

In addition, some of the vehicle gates required renovation while others would have to be enlarged, but a key requirement for the new access system was a design of turn and 'shy & stile' suitable for both pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

Kaba GmbH was selected to carry out the contract, installing a Kaba exos 8300 access control system, together with additional system components such as long and shy; range antennas.

Kaba Tursysteme supplied the new gate, barrier and turnstile equipment.

LEGIC were contracted to supply their contactless smart card technology for integration into the new ID cards for employees at the park, and these were configured to provide access control for both pedestrians and vehicles as well as for other applications such as time and attendance recording.

Head of security at Griesheim Industrial Park, Dipl.-Ing.

Maynhard Schwarz, comments: "Thanks to the use of the latest technology from LEGIC and Kaba, the management of both pedestrian and vehicle access is now fully automatic.

We no longer have to worry about lost visitor passes, as they are automatically collected at the turnstiles or barriers as visitors leave the park.

We are already making plans to upgrade the system with the addition of a visitor management module, and in future the LEGIC ID cards will also be able to be used as cash-free payment mediums at our in-house facilities.".
