LEM introduces multi-purpose power
network monitor
LEM has added the BEN 6000 to its family of digital fault recording equipment for power networks.

The BEN 6000 incorporates: * a digital fault recorder, which can be used with minimum intrusion and maximum communication.
* a versatile dynamic swing monitor, which allows the combination of any inputs to create derived quantities to trigger long-duration recording.
* a continuous recorder, which provides over one month of recording, independently from triggered conditions.
* a comprehensive power quality monitor, which compiles the Power Quality profile of the monitored signals in conformance with EN 61000-4-30 and EN 50160.
* a phasor monitoring unit (PMU) that offers system phasor information according to IEEE 1344.
* a remote terminal unit for real-time measurement and event reporting to SCADA via the IEC61850 protocol.
* a sequence of events recorder, which displays all digital transitions of inputs as well as internal trigger conditions.
Features of the monitor include three simultaneous and programmable acquisition speeds, up to 192 analogue and 384 digital inputs - centralised or decentralised - and very low skew (5ęs max) between channels.
It is user configurable, allowing any trigger to be connected to any channel, and providing an unlimited number of triggers per channel and programmable allocation of memory.
The BEN 6000 is based on a heavy-duty industrial platform and Linux.
It can accommodate a mixture of up to 24 data acquisition units for voltage, current or digital inputs.
Its small size and Compact PCI expandability make it suitable for a wide range of power monitoring applications.
