Regional procurement consortium consisting of 13 organisations, which together manage over 92,000 homes across central England, is being established.
From showroom to show home
Disused car showroom in Leyton, east London, acquired by ASRA Greater London Housing Association in May last year, has made way for a development of new affordable homes for local people.
But first time buyers who want to be quick off the mark can reserve them now.
Designed to help people who otherwise could not afford to buy a home, shared ownership gives buyers the chance to purchase a percentage of the property, while paying rent on the remainder.
Over time they can then increase their share if they wish.
The apartments have a modern fitted kitchen and bathroom, open plan living and dining areas, internal storage space and there is a choice of apartment size and layout.
Prices start from GBP57,000 for 50% share.
The homes are part of a new 255-property development built by Kings Oak Homes.
The majority of the 48 homes earmarked for shared ownership at the Newlife Apartments in Spring Boroughs sold in less than three months, with some sold in just one month.
Robert Nettleton, LHA-ASRA Group Development and Regeneration Director, said: "LHA is delighted to have worked with Kings Oak Homes on this scheme, which comes on the back of our very successful regeneration of the Newlife Apartments in Northampton.
"The homes there were sold very quickly so I would urge anyone who is interested to get in touch".
John Stemp, LHA Managing Director, said: "These LHA homes offer a first rung on the property ladder as more and more people are being priced out of the housing market in Northampton.
They are perfect for commuters being so close to the railway station".
LHA has contributed GBP3.4 million of its own money towards the scheme, with the Government's Housing Corporation providing a further GBP2.4 million.
