LHA-ASRA supports North Wingfield Commuity
Housing and regeneration group LHA-ASRA and building contractor and developer William Davis are sponsoring North Wingfield's summer carnival.
LHA-ASRA is currently working in North Wingfield, Derbyshire, with William Davis to develop 33 affordable bungalows for the over 55's, which will be some of the most environmentally friendly in Derbyshire.
Together, the two organisations are providing GBP700 to the North Wingfield Community Project.
This will help fund the carnival's main stage on the King George V playing fields.
On the day, staff from LHA-ASRA, and Rykneld Homes will also be on hand at a stall to provide information about the new development of two-bedroom environmentally friendly homes, and how to apply for one.
John Henderson, Head of Programme Delivery at LHA-ASRA said: "We are delighted to be supporting the North Wingfield Community Project with William Davis, and to contribute to making this summer's carnival a fantastic event for local people to enjoy.
"LHA-ASRA is about more than just building new homes.
In North Wingfield we have sought to involve members of the community in the design of these new homes and are currently working with Arts Development at the District Council and other agencies over a film project for young people in the area".
John Brookes, Chair of the North Wingfield Community Project added: "The village carnival is a free event which relies on sponsorship from public and private sector organisations.
With the support of LHA and William Davis this year, we have been able to add a stage and provide an evening's entertainment in the form of a sing-a-long picnic".
Nic Jepson, Group Business Development Manager for William Davis commented: "William Davis is committed to engaging the local community where possible in all of its schemes and North Wingfield serves as an excellent example of this policy.
We have already delivered a special Health and Safety presentation to pupils of North Wingfield Primary School, and to be able to add to this with sponsorship of the summer carnival is extremely pleasing".
Of the homes at Wayside Close and Eyam Close, 26 will be for affordable rent, one will be a Learning Disabilities Unit, and six will be sold for shared ownership.
The homes will have a state-of-the-art renewable heating system, which uses a biomass boiler run on wood chips.
It will be one of the first bungalow schemes in the East Midlands to use a biomass heating system.
LHA-ASRA worked closely with local councillors over the design and layout of the homes, which are expected to be completed this autumn.
North East Derbyshire District Council donated the land to the project.
It has been funded by LHA-ASRA, NEDDC and the Homes and Communities Agency.
All the homes will meet the Lifetime Homes Standard, which means they can be adapted to suit a range of needs, allowing people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
They will all have an internal recharging station for scooters, and two will be built to full wheelchair mobility standard with car ports.
