Gasoliers return to St Peters
A major milestone has been passed in the restoration and re-use of St Peter's in Ancoats, Manchester.
The award ceremony was held at the NEC in Birmingham on 22nd March 2005, where David McCallion and Roger Talbot from Linford Group were presented with the award by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Michael Nangle.
The awards seek to identify and reward those achieving the highest standards in building construction across a wide range of categories.
Sites were evaluated against a comprehensive marking scheme before being visited by the judging panel.
Linford completed the GBP 5 million contract to fit-out the 114 apartments for CALA Homes in July 2004.
Fit-out works included forming internal walls, acoustic insulation and the installation of contemporary kitchen and bathroom fittings.
Working closely with the CALA sales team, Linford were able to accommodate the needs of individual purchasers to specify the detailed finishes of their new homes, including the incorporation of built-in sound systems requested by a number of customers.
The project was made particularly challenging by strictly limited access.
Materials could only be delivered to the apartments, situated on the upper floors of the development, via the underground car park using hoists in the lift shafts.
Deliveries were restricted to between the hours of 6 and 10am so as not to disrupt Broadway Plaza's retail and leisure businesses.
David Linford, executive chairman at Linford Group said: "We are extremely proud to have won such a prestigious award".
"It is testament to our highly skilled team that the apartments at Broadway Plaza have been recognised for their high quality." Steve Bowen, development director at CALA Homes (Midlands) added: "The Broadway Plaza development required a construction company that could deliver a high quality finish in a difficult location - Linford met and exceeded all our expectations." Linford worked in conjunction with project managers from Gardiner and Theobald Management Services, architects from Ian Darby Partnership and quantity surveyors from Bucknall Austin.
