Building contractor Linford Group has won contracts with a combined value of GBP3million to build two new primary schools The new facilities will both replace existing school buildings, one in Gotham, Nottinghamshire and the other in Newport, Shropshire

Both new schools will be single-storey buildings designed specifically for the purpose.

Work on the steel framed structure with external brickwork at Gotham is already underway and will be completed early 2006.

Meanwhile, work on the Newport SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School started at the end of June.

Both contracts include full mechanical and electrical services, external works and drainage, and require precise project management to ensure that the impact on pupils is minimised.

Richard Madeley, Business Development Manager at Lichfield-based Linford Group said: "These two contracts build on a long line of work in the education sector for Linford Group.

"On both the sites, precise planning is required to minimise the impact of our work on local residents and businesses.

But in addition, we are always conscious that our first priorities in an educational environment are working in harmony with the timetable and educational calendar, and applying the highest standards of health and safety throughout.".
