Linford Group has secured the contract to build an exciting new residential development in the heart of Peak District National Park.
Recent contracts include the GBP1.1m restoration of the Grade II* listed Camellia House at Wollaton Hall, and the 20 tonne grand entrance gates to the British Museum.
As well as adding an important new capability to Linford's existing portfolio of renewal and restoration services, the deal will see Linford providing the support and investment needed to enhance Dorothea Restoration's operations across the UK.
The acquisition represents the latest in a series of geographic and service expansions for Linford Group, following the establishment of its North West operation in 2002 and Faenol Linford in North Wales in 2004.
Linford Group Executive Chairman Simon Linford said: "The value of Dorothea lies is in the skills of its staff, in its name and brand, and in its reputation for the highest quality of work".
""That commitment to traditional craft skills and quality makes Dorothea a good fit with our own restoration business, and indeed in recent years we have found ourselves working increasingly together on projects including the John Rylands Library in Manchester, St George's Hall in Liverpool, and Wollaton Hall in Nottinghamshire.
"By acquiring Dorothea as an independent subsidiary, we have confirmed our intention of retaining that winning combination, while adding the resources necessary to build further success for the company." The owners of Dorothea Restorations, Geoff Wallis and David Hodgson, will continue to work with the company on a number of projects.
They have welcomed the sale of their business to Linford as "the perfect result", ensuring the continuation of the business under the ownership of a group that understands restoration businesses, is committed to craft training, and can help take Dorothea to the next level.
Geoff Wallis said: "We feel entirely comfortable that our life's work is in the right hands, and that the enterprise will prosper".
"The staff very much appreciate the fact that they are becoming part of an organization which is demonstrably looking forward and with an excellent reputation".
Simon Linford added: "We look forward to welcoming Dorothea's 44 members of staff into the Linford Group, and to working together towards our commitment to deliver the best of building, restoration and renewal services across all our markets.".
