Liquid Plastics, pioneer of liquid roof waterproofing technology, has helped Barratt Homes effectively waterproof the roof of its latest refurbishment project in London.

Bloomsbury Terrace is a collection of 53 luxury two bedroom apartments set within a six storey building constructed in the early 1900's With its charming traditional exteriors of Bloomsbury's Edwardian vernacular, the development is set to be a hit amongst home buyers

When the full refurbishment of the building began, Barratt Homes was aware that the roof would also require a high quality waterproof finish.

However, this could prove to be difficult to achieve because of the amount of detail work involved around the chimney stacks.

Liquid Plastics' seamless Decothane Delta 25 waterproofing system was specified and applied by one of its Quality Assured Contractors - Central Roofing.

Decothane is a completely cold applied system that cures to provide a seamless, elastomeric membrane and is guaranteed to last for at least 25 years.

It is an incredibly versatile product, which easily moulds around detail areas with the help of its Glass Fibre Matting reinforcement.

This meant that waterproofing could be quickly completed without the time consuming process of cutting material to fit.

"Having worked with Decothane for many years, we knew the product was more than capable to handle this kind of complex detailing," comments James Broady, Sales Director for Central Roofing.

"And we're pleased to say that the client is very happy with the finished result".

Decothane is also completely cold applied, thus removing the need for any heat or naked flame on the roof.

Using traditional heat applied systems would have proved difficult and added extra health and safety considerations as other trades were working on the roof space at the same time.

Furthermore, because the system was applied by a Quality Assured Contractor a single point guarantee was issued covering both materials and workmanship.
