LouvreSol plans upgrade for multi-storey car park

A LouvreSol Special Projects product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Oct 2, 2009

LouvreSol Specialist Projects has won an architectural screening contract for a multi-story car park design at Coventry University.

Multi-storey car parks are increasingly being replaced with attractive buildings as planners and specifiers realise that the large, multi-storey concrete structures which relieve our parking congestion, can be improved using lightweight materials such as sheet stainless steel and aluminium extrusions.

One such parking facility is the one at Coventry University which has recently gained planning permission.

The design features vertical stainless steel panels giving the illusion that the structure has a smaller footprint and emphasises height.

Internal lighting will operate during evenings enabling the structure to fit in with surrounding buildings.

Shading and screening systems are increasingly being used across the UK as specifiers become aware that such systems can offer aesthetic benefits while making buildings more cost effective to run.
