The HNC in Electrical Engineering consists of CORE modules (compulsary units), a choice of a number of modules within the PRINCIPLES AND TECHNOLOGY group and the remainder from the large selection of OPTIONS modules that are available.

HNC - Electrical Engineering Core: Information Technology Applications 2, Communication: Presenting Complex Communication for Vocational Purposes, Fundamentals of Quality Assurance, Engineering Project Principles and Technology: Engineering Principles (Electrical), Electrical Plant (Protection), Electrical Plant (Machines), Engineering Principles (Electrical Networks) Electrical Services, Programmable Controllers, Distributed Control Systems Mathematics for Engineering Options: Vibration Analysis, Engineering Computing, Electrical Supply and distribution, etc (A choice of about 25 modules are available).
A student needs to obtain 12 credits to obtain a HNC in Electrical Engineering.
This course is accredited by SQA and on obtaining a HNC you can be eligible to up to 75% credit transfer towards the 1st year of a B.Eng degree in Multidiscipline Engineering course via an English University (also available by Open Learning, but with formal examinations) OR worth 120 points via the degree through the Open University.
