new residential development for key workers in central London benefited from the speed and efficiency of off-site construction from Light Steel Frame Solutions (LSFS).

Through the successful off-site design, manufacture and installation of 500m2 of Strucmeta infill panels to four storeys, LSFS was able to deliver a water-tight envelope that allowed the external envelope works to commence a full five weeks ahead of schedule The infill panels were supplied complete with insulation and carrier boards for quick on-site installation

LSFS was also appointed to complete works on the two storeys of duplex apartments that form the fifth and sixth floors of the residential development.

Strucmet Elitea, LSFS' innovative fully stand-alone structural system, was specified to reduce build-time even further.

Supplied as a complete lightweight modular solution, LSFS also completed the external facade works on the duplex apartments, manufacturing and installing a super plank cladding system to the structural light steel frame.

By devising an efficient programme that saw the delivering and installation of the infill panels overlap with the construction of the duplex apartments and parapet balconies, LSFS was able to complete works in just 17 weeks.

The new residential apartments at Murray Grove is the latest development to be created by the Newlon Housing Trust as part of the Government's Key Worker Living Scheme, which aims to provide affordable housing for key workers living in London, the South-East and the East of England.

Mark Shea, Managing Director of LSFS comments: "Speed and efficiency of construction is paramount to the Government meeting its ambitions targets to create more affordable housing for key workers living in the most expensive areas of the country".

"The use of light steel frame technology and off-site construction not only helps to significantly reduce build times when compared to traditional on-site methods but as it is also a much 'greener' solution, it is easy to see why more and more architects, contractors and of course housing associations are recognising and embracing the benefits of MMC".

All of the systems available as part of the Strucmeta range of light steel solutions are designed and manufactured by LSFS' sister company Light Steel Frame Manufacturing (LSFM), at the company's at the company's 45,000sqft purpose built factory in Wrexham.

The fully finished products complete with insulation, internal and external finishes, fixings and cladding as required, are then delivered for directly to sites across the UK for installation by LSFS.
