LSFS will commence the 16-week build programme in March 2008.
Designed and manufactured off-site, the highly engineered Strucmet Elite stand-alone steel framing system has been specified for both projects in order to help meet sustainability targets and reduce the overall build times of the two 158-bed nursing homes by an anticipated 60%.
The speedy creation of a water-tight envelope through the use of light steel frame technology enables the early release of the individual floor areas and therefore a faster financial return.
As well as providing the primary structural framework of the new care homes, the innovative Strucmet Elite system will also be integrated with Strucmet Living to create fully fitted bathroom pods.
The modular steel frame system will be manufactured to incorporate all the essential services from power to lighting, ventilation and heating before being seamlessly integrated into the building envelope and connected direct to the utilities.
As the manufacture and assembly of the bathroom pods can be monitored under controlled factory conditions, LSFS can ensure full compliance with specific thermal, acoustic and fire regulations is achieved during the design stage, allowing significant savings to be made in terms of site-time and labour costs.
All of the systems available as part of the Strucmet range of light steel solutions are designed and manufactured by LSFS' sister company Light Steel Frame Manufacturing (LSFM), at the company's 45,000sqft purpose built factory in Wrexham.
The fully finished products complete with insulation, internal and external finishes, fixings and cladding as required, are then delivered directly to sites across the UK for installation by LSFS.
