Luxalon responds to call centre requirements
A Luxalon curved ceiling has provided a stylish and practical solution for a major new call centre.
Both the wood and aluminium panels incorporate acoustic absorption features, designed to lead to a quieter environment.
The architects, Mosscrop Associates of Milton Keynes, chose 1000sq m of Luxalon 130B perforated linear aluminium ceilings for 'the Street', a main concourse area which provides the first view on entering the College.
This long, light, open area which is both uplifting and inspiring, leads naturally into the subject family areas.
The ceiling also extends out to the external canopy where an exterior grade 130B system was selected for its aesthetic linear appearance.
The 130mm-wide panels clip into the carrier system and can be removed individually to give easy access to the plenum.
With their warm, natural appearance and acoustic properties, solid wood ceilings provided the ideal complement to the college chapel.
Here, the architects chose a 135mm-wide linear Steamed Beech system - one of many species available in the solid wood collection.
The design possibilities are huge, with convex, curved and undulating ceilings also possible.
Three different solid wood ceiling systems are available which can be used on the interior and exterior of buildings.
Hunter Douglas Luxalon wood ceiling systems offer many practical advantages when compared to traditionally constructed wooden ceilings which are nailed or screwed to a structure.
These benefits include a higher quality finish, no visible fixings and no warping or twisting of the panels due to environmental conditions.
Their unique design lends itself to fast installation and up to 50% of the panels can be demounted for easy access to services in the void.
Acoustic and Fire Rated versions are also available.
The main Contractor at St Joseph's College was Cowlin Construction and the ceiling contractor - Optima Dry Wall of Bristol.
