A striking curved solid wood ceiling from Hunter Douglas has provided an aesthetic and practical solution for Fire and Stone - a new pizza restaurant in Covent Garden Set over two floors, this stunningly designed restaurant has room for up to 250 diners is now one of London's leading pizza restaurants

The Luxalon Linear Open Solid Wood Ceiling System in European Oak not only complemented the interior scheme, but also offered excellent acoustic absorption.

Over 150m2 of ceiling has been installed in several areas throughout the restaurant.

Along the sides of the dining area, the ceiling has been formed into a curved bulkhead to provide an attractive feature which was used to conceal services and ductwork.

In a busy foodservice environment, sound control is essential.

To improve the ceiling's acoustic performance, the solid wood panels incorporate a non-woven acoustic fleece tissue between the panels.

This design reduces reverberation time, leading to a quieter environment The Fire and Stone installation is a perfect example of the design versatility of the Luxalon solid wood range which is available in a large collection of species designed to complement all architectural styles.

These natural products enhance the mood of any space, creating a warm natural atmosphere.

The product range consists of three different systems that can be used on the interior and exterior of buildings.

Curved or undulating ceiling designs - as at Fire and Stone - are all possible.

Hunter Douglas wood ceiling systems also offer many practical advantages compared to traditional wooden ceilings which are typically nailed or screwed into position.

The benefits include higher quality, no visible fixings, with any natural movement of the wood being controlled by the suspension system.

This unique design lends itself to faster installation together with easy access into the void.

Class O Fire Resistant versions are also available.

The restaurant and ceiling were designed by architects, Harper Downie, London and installed by Sherlock Interiors, London.
