Luxeon III, An 80-Lumen Long-Life LED
Lumileds' Luxeon family allows designers to achieve desired light output with fewer LEDs than the company's original 25-lumen product, simplify engineering and manufacturing.
Lumileds Lighting announced the immediate availability of Luxeon III, a new high-power 100,000-hour LED that generates typical light output of 65 and 80 lumens from a single emitter at 700 and record setting 1000 mA operation, respectively The new addition to Lumileds' Luxeon family allows designers to achieve desired light output with fewer LEDs than the company's original 25-lumen product, simplify engineering and manufacturing, and minimize luminaire size to create new designs more affordably than ever before

Lumileds shatters performance records
Luxeon III emitters reduce the cost of semiconductor-based lighting per lumen, and simultaneously save space, by reducing the number of emitters required to produce a given light output.
Luxeon Glamour For Mayfair
London's Paragon Lounge bar in the heart of glamorous Mayfair is using Luxeon LEDs as the sole light source in a stylish, colourful lighting refurbishment.
Luxeon III delivers more than twice the luminous flux of Lumileds' 25-lumen white Luxeon in the same footprint while lowering the cost per lumen by 30 to 50 percent.
In comparison, high-flux LEDs from other suppliers produce only 2 to 5 lumens per package in white and comparable performance in colour.
The new Luxeon LED also offers the same industry-leading lumen maintenance as all Luxeon models, retaining 70 percent of its brightness after 50,000 hours of operation at 700 mA and 50 percent at 20,000 hours at 1000 mA.

A Point Well Made With Luxeon LEDs
The latest LED technology from Lumileds has been used to light Ireland's new landmark, the Dublin Spire, in an innovative combination of light, design and movement.
In addition to white, the Luxeon III is available in blue, royal blue, green and cyan.
It offers significant size, longevity and energy-saving benefits for products of all kinds, including task, orientation and architectural lighting, reading lights, flashlights, garden lighting, traffic signaling, edge-lit signs, and LCD backlights.
"Luxeon III is the result of direct feedback from both lighting designers and manufacturers who asked for a new LED with light output between the Luxeon and Luxeon V products to provide new design options," said Jason Posselt, Director of Product Marketing for Lumileds Lighting.
"The optical and thermal characteristics of Luxeon III and the new 700 and 1000mA drive current limits, without sacrificing lumen maintenance, uniquely qualify Luxeon III for a wide range of applications." All Luxeon light sources provide significant energy savings over incandescent and most halogen lamps, an extremely small form factor, instant illumination, full dimming capability, precise beam control, mercury-free and UV-free operation, a cool light beam that is safe to touch, and higher flux per emitter than LEDs from any other supplier.
Specifications and Availability The Luxeon III Emitter and Luxeon III Star (mounted on FR4/aluminum PC Board) are immediately available in the Lambertian radiation pattern in white, royal blue, blue, green and cyan.
