Urban Design Award won with Masterframe windows

A Masterframe Windows product story

Wigan Council's Private Sector Housing Section won an Urban Design Award for regeneration schemes in the Pagefield Renewal Area, where over 100 Masterframe sliding sashes were installed.

"The refurbishment schemes were highlighted for their excellent design, workmanship and quality of materials, and replicating original vertical sliding sash windows," explains Robin Abraham, Senior Technical Officer at Wigan Council.

The rows of Victorian terraced houses benefited from a facelift using Masterframe's Vintage PVC-U sash windows with traditional styling.

Alan Burgess, Managing Director of Masterframe congratulates Wigan Council gaining a Commendation in the category of Conservation Refurbishment.

"Regeneration of these streets has improved the area 100%".

Alan saw the terraces before the refurbishment: "Many properties had been defaced by unsuitable designs and casement windows fitted into existing sash boxes".

"This kind of inappropriate replacement damages the value of period properties and the look of a whole street." Robin Abraham adds: "We chose Masterframe windows because they are better value than hardwood and low maintenance, but look like the original sashes".

"The windows have a deep bottom rail and authentic glazing bar and a unique continuous horn, the best feature on the Vintage collection".

"We've had very positive feedback from customers.".
