Mapei helps refurb Clissold Leisure Centre
Clissold Leisure Centre in Hackney is the proud recipient of two prestigious awards, thanks to an extensive refurbishment, in which Mapei's products were widely used.
The company's latest building in Nottingham, Landmark House, was a new build project and Mapei products were utilised throughout the tiling installations in the ground floor entrance, toilet areas and staff showers - all supplied and fixed by Telling Finishings of Mansfield.
Tellings installed 1000 m2 of Revigres porcelain 600x300 tiles onto a screeded surface incorporating underfloor heating using Granirapid - a high performance, fast setting and hydrating 2-component cementitious adhesive for ceramic tiles and stone materials.
Granirapid is particularly suitable for installing porcelain and other materials with high coefficients of moisture expansion which require rapid drying adhesive.
Granirapid also enabled the floor to accept traffic after 3-4 hours.
This floor area was then grouted with Ultracolor polymer modified cementitious fast setting and drying grout.
Ultracolor has since been upgraded to Ultracolor Plus with both anti mould BioBlock and water-repellent DropEffect technologies.
Medium grey was chosen from a range of 26 varied shades to perfectly compliment the grey porcelain floor tiles.
Ultracolor was also used to grout the wall joints between the Revigres porcelain 300x72 tiles installed in floor areas, covering approximately 300 m2.
The colour 'Terracotta' was selected for this installation.
Standard 600x300 white wall tiles from RS Turkey were also installed onto plasterboard in staff shower areas using Keraflex (approximately 350 m2) and again grouted using Ultracolor.
Keraflex is a high performance adhesive with no vertical slip for ceramic tiles, porcelain and stone materials. Request a free brochure from Mapei UK ...
