Mapei products have recently been used to successfully install the extensive areas of flooring within the new Terminal 5 building at Heathrow Airport.
Swimming Pool Surround and Ramp:.
For the pool surround and the ramp to the family changing room, Mapei Topcem, a special hydraulic binder for screeds was installed, its fast-setting properties ensure that porcelain tiles can be installed after just 24 hours and stone materials after just 3 days.
The substrate was then waterproofed using Mapelastic flexible cementitious membrane.
Domus Minerali Unglazed Porcelain Stone floor tiles size 600x150x10mm and 300x150x10mm were then fixed to the surrounds using Elastorapid fast-setting adhesive with extended open time.
The 3mm joints were then grouted with Ultracolor Plus polymer modified, cementitious coloured grout, available in 26 colours, with anti-mould, anti-mildew, anti-efflorescence and water-repellent technologies - BioBlock and DropEffect.
Movement joints were sealed with Mapesil AC silicone sealant available in matching colours.
Family and Male and Female Changing Room Floors:.
The products above were used to install Domus Minerali Unglazed Porcelain Stone tiles 300x300x10mm to the changing room floors.
Pool Hall Wall Areas:.
Skirting tiling to the pool hall wall areas was also installed with the same system of products (excluding Topcem) to install Domus Unglazed Porcelain Stone 600x150x10mm on to a base of existing ceramic tiles.
Dwarf Wall Area - Tops and Sides:.
Mapelastic, Elastorapid, Ultracolor Plus and Mapesil AC were again used to install Domus Minerali Unglazed Porcelain Stone tiles 600x150x10mm and 300x150x10mm onto Sand:Cement Rendered Blockwork.
Family and Male and Female Changing Room Walls:.
Mapelastic was applied to the existing ceramic tile on sand:cement render substrate in all wet areas.
Domus Keystone Unglazed Porcelain mosaic 25x25x5mm and 50x50x5mm were installed using Adesilex P10 brilliant white adhesive especially for mosaic mixed with Isolastic latex additive, for increased flexibility.
Ultracolor Plus was again used to grout tile joints and movement joints were again sealed with Mapesil AC.
Locker Plinths:.
Mapelastic, Elastorapid, Ultracolor Plus and Mapesil AC were again used to install Domus Minerali Unglazed Porcelain Stone Tiles 300x300x10mm onto Sand:Cement Render. Request a free brochure from Mapei UK ...
