Mapei and the University of Central
England
Mapei products and flooring systems, were used extensively throughout the building supplied by Carpet and Flooring Bristol.
The University of the West of England (UWE), situated in Bristol is the largest higher education provider in the South West of England with over 3,000 staff and 30,000 students In order to support its fast growth GBP200m is being invested in new facilities, including a new Student Village and Centre for Sport on its Frenchay Campus

Mapei helps refurb Clissold Leisure Centre
Clissold Leisure Centre in Hackney is the proud recipient of two prestigious awards, thanks to an extensive refurbishment, in which Mapei's products were widely used.
Within the student accommodation block ECO PRIM R, a solvent free acrylic based primer in water dispersion with very low emissions of VOC was used to cover the 33,000m area.
LATEXPLAN was then applied.
Latexplan is a two-part cement-based compound that consists of grey powder (Part A) containing special cements, graded silica sands and additives to be mixed with a synthetic rubber latex (Part B).
Finally 33,000m of carpet tiles were fixed (from Carpet and Flooring's Precision and Classic loop ranges) with Mapei's ULTRABOND ECO FIX, a solvent-free acrylic based adhesive for dry lay floor tiles with practically zero emissions of VOC.
In the ground floor area MAPELAY, a waterproof and anti-fracture PVC glass fibre reinforced canvas for interior installation of resilient and textile flooring over substrates that are cracked, dirty, moist and subject to rising damp, was used over concrete on the 3000m ground floor area of the accommodation blocks.
ULTRABOND ECO FIX was again used to fix the carpet tiles.
Mapei also carried out testing of the anhydrite screeds and advised on floor preparation.
PLANITEX D10, an alpha semi-hydrate based self-levelling, smoothing compound was used to carry out remedial works to the areas of the anhydrite.
With very low emissions of VOC, Planitex D10 is chromite free, pumpable (or notch trowel applied) and suitable for thicknesses from 1-15mm.
ADESILEX G19 is a two-part polyurethane adhesive for rubber and PVC flooring.
