Mapei facilitates fast tile installation at hotel

Mapei's fast setting products were used for tile floor installation throughout a hotel refurbishment with tight deadlines.

The project at the resort hotel at Turnberry needed to be completed prior to hosting the 138th Open Golf Championship.

Mapei Mapeprim SP primer, Mapegum WPS waterproofing membrane and Fiberplan self-levelling compound provided a flexible and waterproof substrate for the rapid installation of porcelain tiles onto underfloor heating mats, existing wooden substrates and uneven floors.

Fiberplan as fibre reinforcement and heat resistant properties, and the ability to level variations in thickness between 3-10mm, providing a durable tiled surface.

Keraquick Grey flexible adhesive and Keracolor GG grout were used for the installation of large format porcelain tiles with wide joints.

Porcelain skirting and door facing tiles required a specialist adhesive to accommodate variations in wall levels.

Keraflex Maxi White, thin or thick bed adhesive enabled installers to fix the tiles with up to 15mm build up.

Ultracolor Plus grouts were then applied to colour co-ordinate with the interior decor scheme and provide a flexible anti-mould joint.
