Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jan 20, 2010

Mapei has introduced an improved, fast setting cementitious adhesive to its rapid set range, Mapeker Rapid-Set Flex.

The product has been improved to make it more flexible enabling installers to use it on 15mm plywood and with underfloor heating systems embedded in a levelling compound.

Mapeker Rapid-Set Flex is suitable for the interior and exterior bonding of ceramic and porcelain tiles, mosaics and natural stone materials which are not sensitive to moisture.

The adhesive aids speedy installation of floors and walls for applications such as bathrooms, kitchens, balconies and other general pedestrian traffic areas in domestic and commercial environments.

The product permits grouting after 2-3 hours and is ready for light foot traffic after 3 hours.

Mapeker Rapid-Set Flex is composed of special cements, aggregates, synthetic resins and setting accelerators, and is available in white and grey, is frost proof and water resistant once hardened.

It can also be used for spot bonding of insulating materials such as expanded polystyrene and polyurethane, gypsum board, glass and rockwool, wood-cement panels and formed concrete blocks.
